A Day in the Life of a
Wooden Shoe Preschooler

Hours are subject to change.
Please refer to director.

What Each Part of the Day Really Looks Like

Circle Time –
Building Brains & Community
Each morning begins with a time of connection and curiosity. During Circle Time, children are welcomed into the day with songs, stories, calendar routines, and interactive discussions that strengthen listening, communication, and early literacy skills. It’s also a time to build classroom community and reinforce social-emotional growth.

Outdoor Play –
Exploring, Moving, Growing
Our preschoolers enjoy daily outdoor adventures in two private, age-specific playgrounds designed to support gross motor development and imaginative play. Climbing structures, ride-on toys, natural elements, and space to run give children the chance to build coordination, confidence, and collaboration—skills vital to every stage of early development.
Chapel –
Nurturing Faith & Values (Wednesdays Only)
Once a week, preschoolers gather for Chapel, a joyful and age-appropriate time of worship, storytelling, and prayer. We instill simple, foundational truths about God’s love, kindness, and purpose for their lives—encouraging children to grow spiritually as well as academically.

Rest & Transitions:
Throughout the day, we guide children through thoughtful transitions that support their growing independence and well-being. From hand washing and potty time to snack breaks and quiet rest, each routine is handled with care, patience, and consistency. These moments teach important life skills—like hygiene, self-regulation, and responsibility—while helping children feel safe, calm, and cared for.

Center Time –
Hands-On Learning That Sticks
Children rotate through structured learning centers that target early math, science, art, literacy, and sensory exploration. These hands-on activities are carefully designed to meet developmental milestones, providing age-appropriate challenges and guided instruction. This is where concepts come alive through play and purposeful interaction.

Small Group Work –
Individual Attention, Big Results
Our educators work with children in small groups to focus on specific developmental goals like fine motor skills, letter recognition, or problem-solving. This approach ensures each child receives personalized support and the right challenge—helping them thrive academically and socially.

Our Philosophy
We create an environment where every child knows they are deeply loved and of infinite worth. We believe that play is the work of the young child, and through it, children learn best—developing curiosity, confidence, and a sense of wonder.
We honor each child’s unique growth and learning style, offering a developmentally appropriate curriculum that aligns with the natural stages of early childhood. Through rich, meaningful themes explored in literature, art, music, and imaginative play, our students build essential skills while joyfully engaging with the world around them.
Our goal is to nurture the whole child—mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually—through hands-on exploration, positive relationships, and Christ-centered values that guide every interaction.
